It’s mildly amusing to me and it also kind of makes me sad that it’s been over a year since I wrote here last.
I’ve got WordPress blogs sprinkled out all over the place, I think I’m up to 5 (?) and would love to just merge all of my content under one blog to rule them all… I’m contemplating it. The fact that I’ve got so many, plus… I’ve got the .XML files for the two past blogs that I had YEARS ago, I’ve got a ton of content that’s been pulled from the public. Maybe pool them all under one externally hosted site? It’s an idea.
Anyway, we’re living in the time of COVID-19 now. So much going on with every possible viewpoint on where it came from, how it’s affecting us, what our society should be doing to combat it, where we are heading… what our future looks like… there’s a lot of discussion.
The only thing that is certain to me when discussing the topic is that we, as a people, are divided… no… completely fragmented. It’s a fever pitch that we are at as a species and everyone’s general tolerance shrinks and shrinks as time passes.
I’m not immune to this trend, I’m not better than anyone else. I’m torn between two viewpoints that seem to oppose one another however I recognize that my opinion doesn’t make a lick of difference in changing the course of events. I’m not likely to convince anyone who’s opinion is different from my own in this day and age so I’ll just keep my views to myself. It’s not worth the frustration at this point in my life. It’s not going to get me any traffic to this site but, well, who fucking cares?
Also, I generally don’t like dealing with people for reasons stated above. So being isolated during my COVID exposure has been alright, I’m a weird blend of extroversion and introversion. Not strictly either, however I manage to feel pretty comfortable by myself with minimal human interaction.
I’ve been isolated for two weeks after my girlfriend contracted COVID-19 and we’d been in close contact in that period of time. We had about 4 days where I didn’t see her in that time so I’m guessing that’s how I managed to avoid contracting it but it is improbable to me that I didn’t catch it. I’ve been tested twice in that time with two negative results so you can’t argue with that. It’s another example of how bizarre this virus is. I know three people who have contracted it, though, and it’s a unified position by them that it’s not a hoax or something to scoff at. They all got very sick, a more intense illness that lasts for longer than catching an average influenza that’s goes around.
So we’ll see how this plays out, we have no choice… it’s going to happen whether we like it or not. Our game will continue, this world will continue to turn. We’re riding in a burning car cruising at top speed with no driver behind the wheel. Wherever this takes us, it’s probably not going to be in a better place than where we got into the car.
